NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

BIG CHANGES COMING IN FEBRUARY

After 3 years in business, during which The Salt Pot Kitchen has taken many different routes, with numerous untold adventures along the way, we have now found the direction we see as offering us the longevity we are striving for. After a very successful season last winter providing the food for the Harry Potter Forbidden Forrest Experience here in Leesburg, we have decided to concentrate our efforts on Celtic, music and other large-scale festivals and events in the future.

As with any strategic reorientation, there are going to be changes made in the way we operate, bringing to light areas of the business we will no longer be able to service. Sadly, our local Farmer’s Markets, online orders and the wholesale branches of our business are the areas which will be affected.

From February 1st, 2024, we will no longer be able to participate at any Farmer’s Markets, nor take any online orders. We will be solely focused on large scale events and festivals.

Similarly, we will be adapting our menus to align with our new operations and the demands for these types of festival – this means we will be discontinuing most of our pastries (pasties, sausage rolls, Wiltshire Plaits etc.)

Please take advantage of us until the end of January, and stock up on your pasties, sausage rolls, Wiltshire Plaits, pot pies, homemade soups etc. We will continue to make everything fresh each week until we close the doors at our current location in Leesburg at the end of the month.

I’m sure you understand, this decision has not been taken lightly. We still hope to participate at some of the many local fairs and festivals, so you’ll see us here and there throughout the spring and fall seasons, just not on a regular basis at the weekly Farmer’s Markets. We will continue our presence on social media, so please continue to follow us and see where our new journey takes us @thesaltpotkitchen.

It has been our greatest pleasure to have had the opportunity to introduce our favourite British foods and flavours to our adopted home of Loudoun/Fairfax County (and beyond), to work side by side every week with the most incredible hard-working chefs, farmers and local makers, to serve our local community, and make some wonderful friends along the way. This journey, though so incredibly tough at times, has been a blessing for our family, and brought us closer than we ever could have imagined, so for that we thank you.

Please consider packing up your freezers with our homemade goodies to take you through the winter and spring to help us to finish out strong. Don’t forget homemade mincemeat lasts for a full year and only improves with age, so we are happy to spare you the horror of store-bought mincemeat for Christmas 2024 by making a fresh batch in January (by request only)!

See you on Sundays at Mosaic Farmer’s Market (rain, snow or shine!) until the end of January.

WHAT'S THE STORY

TheSaltPotKitchen_AprilFoodPhotos-42.jpg
We're Passionate About Good Home Cooked Food

Food is important. Water is important. It keeps us alive……but eating food together lets us live!

We started the Salt Pot Kitchen to make good, homemade food easily accessible to busy families.

The original concept was conjured up after many years of rushing straight from work to a sporting game/practice, to sit on cold bleachers supporting our mini athletes’ multiple times a week, year-round. No time to run home and prepare a nutritious meal, so grabbing a pretzel, a slice of pizza or a burger on the sidelines had to do….all the while just dreaming of a simple, nutritionally balanced bowl of homemade soup!

Fast-forward to 2021, and the stress on families has been compounded with home schooling, juggling working at home with youngsters and pets (while home schooling), caring for vulnerable friends and relatives who might not be comfortable going out to grocery shop and/or eat, and untold other pressures.

In response to these needs within our community, the team at The Salt Pot Kitchen, led by a Cordon Bleu trained chef, morphed their original idea into a prepared meal delivery service of top quality, delicious, homemade treats (with a British flair).

Stock up on homemade soups, pies and “to-go” items like traditional sausage rolls or Wiltshire Plaits, all ready to pop in the oven, and give yourself the night off safe in the knowledge everything is prepared in-house exactly as it has been prepared for our own family for years…..

“Every English village seems to have a particular day when some local tradition is celebrated - and the celebratory food is often pie.”

Janet Clarkson
